Breaking News:- President Buhari, VP Osinbajo Finally Declare Their Assets

2 (1)
The assets of President Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have finally been disclosed. Below is a press statement from the presidency.
“Documents submitted by President Muhammadu Buhari to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), show that the retired General has indeed been living an austere and Spartan lifestyle, contrary to what many might expect of a former Head of State of Nigeria and one who has held a number of top government positions, such as governor, Minister of petroleum and the head of the Petroleum Development Trust Fund (PTDF).
“The documents submitted to the CCB, which officials say are still being vetted and will soon be made public, show that prior to being sworn in on May 29, President Buhari had less than N30 million to his name. He also had only one bank account, with the Union Bank. President Buhari had no foreign account, no factory and no enterprises. He also had no registered company and no oil wells.
“The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) who had been a successful lawyer before his foray into politics declared a bank balance of about N94 million and 900,000 United States Dollars in his bank accounts.
“President Buhari declared however that he had shares in Berger Paints, Union Bank and Skye Bank.
“This is entirely unlike what one might expect from a former head of state of a country like Nigeria.
“The documents also revealed that President Buhari had a total of five homes, and two mud houses in Daura. He had two homes in Kaduna, one each in Kano, Daura and in Abuja. One of the mud houses in Daura was inherited from his late older sister, another from his late father.
He borrowed money from the old Barclays Bank to build two of his homes.
“President Buhari also has two undeveloped plots of land, one in Kano and the other in Port Harcourt. He is still trying to trace the location of the Port Harcourt land.
“In addition to the homes in Daura, he has farms, an orchard and a ranch. The total number of his holdings in the farm include 270 heads of cattle, 25 sheep, five horses, a variety of birds and a number of economic trees.
“The documents also showed that the retired General uses a number of cars, two of which he bought from his savings and the others supplied to him by the federal government in his capacity as former Head of State. The rest were donated to him by well-wishers after his jeep was damaged in a Boko Haram bomb attack on his convoy in July 2014.
“As revealed by the same forms, highlights of the Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s asset declaration include his 4-bedroom residence at Victoria Garden City, Lagos and a 3-bedroom flat at 2 Mosley Road, Ikoyi. The Vice President also has a 2-bedroom flat at the popular Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and a 2-bedroom mortgaged property in Bedford, England. Aside from these, the Vice President has no other landed properties on the form.
“Apart from his law firm, known as SimmonsCooper, the Vice-President also declared shareholding in six private companies based in Lagos, including Octogenerium Ltd., Windsor Grant Ltd., Tarapolsa, Vistorion Ltd., Aviva Ltd. and MTN Nigeria.
“According to details shown on the form, the Vice-President has about ninety four million naira, nine hundred thousand US dollars and nineteen thousand pounds in Nigerian Banks with the foreign currencies kept in local domiciliary accounts. His personal vehicles are one Infinity 4-Wheel Drive SUV, one Mercedes Benz and a Prado Jeep.
“As soon as the CCB is through with the process, the documents will be released to the Nigerian public and people can see for themselves.”

Cultists Shoot APC Chieftain's Only Son To Death

A BLOODY clash between two rival cult groups at the University of Jos (UNIJOS) over the weekend has left a student dead. Sources claimed that the incident occurred at Gondola, near Angwan Rukuba in Jos North local council, as members of a group went to the room of a member of a rival cult simply identified as Nanfwan, a diploma student at the institution’s Centre for Continuing Education.

According to the eyewitness, the rival cult members shot him four times and he died instantly. They then went close to his body, shattered his head and body with knives.

It was also learnt that the father of the deceased was an All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial aspirant while the boy was an only son.

Residents of the area were shocked at such a bloody clash because according to them, “it was the first time something like this was happening here. The hostel had been very peaceful and lively.”

Sources also hinted that the body was immediately taken to the morgue of Bingham University Teaching Hospital (BUTH), Jos, from where the deceased’s relations removed it for burial on Saturday.

Police Public Relations Officer, Plateau State Police Command, Abuh Emmanuel, confirmed the incident, promising more details later.

On August 4, a combined team of the Special Task Force (STF), the police and the Directorate of State Security (DSS) in Plateau had carried out an operation at UNIJOS, Federal College of Forestry and on people on the streets of some areas known to be notorious for criminal activities and arrested 16 students believed to be cult members.

The institution’s President of the National Association of Political Science Students (NAPSS), Ogene Jude Ogbodo, had earlier said that 16 of their male students were whisked away for no just cause.

Contacted, the STF Spokesman, Capt. Ikedichi Iweha, said that last week, three students were killed in the night by people believed to be cult members, and one other killed along the institution’s Bauchi Road campus.

According to Iweha, all the arrested student suspects were currently being investigated, while those not directly involved would be released and those found culpable handed prosecuted.

Sokoto outlaws lodging in hotels without valid IDs

Sokoto state governor, Aminu Tambuwal, says as from 2016, any guest wanting to lodge in any hotel within the state will be required to have a valid identification card. Governor Tambuwal said this today August 18th while receiving some of his classmates from his secondary school who paid him a visit at his residence in Sokoto.
"In other parts of the world, you cannot just go and lodge in any hotel without valid identification. However, this is not the case in Nigeria. We are introducing this policy as part of our commitment to security of the citizens.
Sokoto has enjoyed peace but we will not relent on our oars, we will continue to do more to support our security agencies. If you are a foreigner, you must present your international passport with a valid Nigerian visa. If you are a Nigerian, the hotels will demand one of drivers' licence, international passport or National ID Card,"he said

Boko Haram Attack Kills 7 In Northeast Nigeria Village

Boko Haram extremists on Monday raided a village in restive northeast Nigeria's Borno state near the border with Niger, killing seven people, community leaders told AFP.

Dozens of gunmen stormed Awonori, a farming and herding village near the fishing town of Damasak, and carted away food supplies and livestock, they said.

"They killed seven people, looted grains and took away all the livestocks in the village before fleeing into the bush," Muhammadu Modu Wan-Wan, head of the Damasak fishermen's union, told AFP.

"The gunmen who came in vans and on motorcycles around 7:00 am (0600 GMT) besieged the village and opened fire on residents as they were having breakfast before moving to their farms," he said.
Wan-Wan said the attack forced the villagers to flee but they returned after the assailants had left.
Abubakar Gamandi, the head of Borno's fishermen's union, confirmed the attack.
"I received report from my members in the Damasak area that Boko Haram gunmen attacked Awonori village this morning where they killed seven people and took away food and livestocks," he said.
Last month, residents of Damasak and surrounding villages fled their homes and crossed the border into the Niger town of Diffa, fearing Boko Haram attacks.

But Wan-Wan said many residents have since returned to their farms.
"People have no food to feed their families which is why they take the risk of going back to their villages to work on their farms now that the rainy season has started," he said.
Boko Haram, which is seeking to carve out a hardline Islamic state in northeast Nigeria, has killed some 15,000 people since 2009.

A regional 8,700-strong force aimed at ending the insurgency is due to deploy within days.
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday told a national security gathering in Abuja that his government would "employ at least an extra 10,000 police officers and establish a properly trained and equipped federal anti-terrorism multi-agency task force" to crush the rebellion.

Two Dead, One Injured As Two Trains Collide In Lagos

On Sunday, August 16, 2015, two trains collided in the Agege area of Lagos state.

The train accident reportedly left two passengers dead and one injured. NAN reports that the two dead passengers were hanging illegally by the moving train’s rooftop when the sad incident occurred.

While the injured passenger is presently receiving treatment at an hospital, Mr Akin Osinowo, Lagos Railway District Manager (RDM) has beckoned on the families of the deceased to come and collect the corpses at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Ebute-Meta.

23-Year-Old Albino Commits Suicide In Lagos Over Discrimination

A 23-year-old man, Ugochukwu Ekwe, yesterday committed suicide at Festac Town, Lagos, over the colour of his skin, being an albino.

His dangling body was discovered in an apartment on 311 Road, Festac Town, Lagos, where he lived with his parents and siblings.

It was gathered that the deceased refused to eat since Saturday in protest of what he said was people’s rejection and stigmatisation because of his skin condition.

He was also said to have refused to go to church with other members of his family yesterday.
When the family returned from church, Ugo, as he was fondly called, was dangling from the end of a rope tied to the ceiling fan, and one of his siblings raised alarm.

We gathered that the deceased had attempted to take his life before now.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “I was returning from church when I saw people gathered in front of the block of flats.

When I enquired, I was told that Ugochukwu had committed suicide. He finished his secondary school education since 2009.
“I also learned he had threatened to take his life before now, saying he was frustrated. Later, we saw some policemen from Festac Division, who removed the body.”
His mother and other members of his family cried uncontrollably as sympathisers thronged their abode.

Spokesperson of Lagos State Police Command, Patricia Amadin, said she was yet to get details from Area ‘E’ Commander, Mr. Frank Mba.
She, however, promised to reach us later, but had not done so at press time.

How Boko Haram Gets Explosives, Weapons - Admiral Jibrin

The immediate past Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin (rtd), has revealed how terror group, Boko Haram get explosives and other weapons which they use in perpetrating evil.
Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin
The Nation reports that Admiral Usman revealed Boko Haram get its weapons through theft and purchase from local shops during a chat with newsmen at the Naval Base, Apapa, Lagos. He also implored Nigerians who have authentic information that will help in bringing to the open, where these terrorists get their equipment from, to come out.
He said: “Terrorists are amongst us, they are very difficult for security agencies to identify, without needed intelligence. Since they are amongst us, the source of materials used for their devices are sold by Nigerians and some stolen from shops belonging to some Nigerians.
“To that end, one expects that owners of stolen equipment or those who equipments are bought from should report to the security agencies, their confidentiality is guaranteed because no one will disclose the source of the information.
“I am appealing to Nigerians to support President ‎Buhari and the security agencies so that they can do their jobs well. “Believing in the effectiveness of intelligence gathering, Nigerians must provide the needed intelligence for security forces to be able to identify would-be bombers and suicide bombers, as well as monitoring to the extent that security forces can unravel where terrorists make their IEDs.‎”

Why Nigerian Youths Are Unemployed – Buhari

PRES-BUHARI-NL
President Muhammadu Buhari said unsuitable qualifications limit the employment prospects and potential of the Nigerian youth to contribute to national development.
The president spoke at the Old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday on the occasion of the 2015 International Youth Day celebrations.
He said “although education attainment by the Nigerian youth has increased significantly in the last decade, the relevance of curricula, quality of education and the fit with skills required by the job market still remains a challenge for the country.
Unsuitable qualifications limit our young peoples’ employment prospects and potential to contribute to national development.”
The president said the youth had written their names in history and would be remembered as true heroes of the country’s democracy and architects of change.
“The role you played, individually and collectively, in not only being peaceful members of the electorate but also galvanising the social media platform and mobilising your peers to make the right choice,” he said.
